TEM methods and techniques

These are the methods and techniques offered at the TEM Center Kiel

  • Lorentz microscopy (LTEM) allows observing magnetic domains statically as well as dynamically by changing the magnetic field at the sample position.

  • Selected area Diffraction (SAD) and precession electron diffraction (PED) are methods using electron diffraction to create an image. Therefore these images contain information like the lattice constant of the sample. PED even enables to solve and refine unknown structures ab-initio.

  • Tomography is applied to create a 3D image of the sample, e.g. for the quantitative description of composite materials.
